Poorly-Drawn Medieval Animals Poster
from $25.00
When explorers returned to Europe with tales of fantastic animals, artists didn't always have the worldly context to visually interpret what they were being told. An animal larger than a horse with a horn coming out of its forehead that had magical properties? A rhinoceros became a unicorn. A terrifying animal with tusks, that swims through the water? A hippopotamus left everything below the water to the imagination. Same goes for a shark. Animal faces are hard to draw? Slap a human face on it. Give an owl lips. Cats and fish move too fast to draw? Human face. Can't find the face on a snail or a shark? Dog face.
All illustrations are based on manuscripts from the 8th-13th centuries, and were adapted as part of a tattoo design. Individual 5" stickers are on their way.
Partly glossy, partly matte finish. Printed to order.
• 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick
